Do they pull teeth if your pregnant?

I am 39 weeks pregnant I have been up all night with a horrible tooth ache..I went to the dentist and they told me to come back with a slip from my obgyn and then the dentist will see me they said everything stops because I am pregnant..Has any one got a tooth pulled pregant? I am in sooo much pain.

Most doctors will allow you to get your tooth pulled now. They will only be allowed to use a local anesthetic insdead of a general one. You will not be able to get any xrays done though. Also, I am unsure of the pain meds. You may have to tough it out with some tylenol. Good luck!
Reply:To my knowledge they will pull teeth but with no anesthetic.
Reply:Yes and the OBGYN should be able to fax a note and fast. Get some ambisol (spelling?) to numb your tooth
Reply:Go to your normal doctor and ask if you can!
Reply:Most dentist will avoid major dental work until after you have the baby. X rays are a major restriction so there isn%26#039;t much they can do.
Reply:Wow - 39 weeks and it just started hurting or have you been putting it off?

I am only 7 weeks and I just had a filling and my ob said it was no problem.
Reply:because you are so far along, they don%26#039;t want to use anesthetic, as it definitely would have an effect on the baby. Go to your OBGYN and see what he says, but my guess would be to wait because of how far along you are. try sensodyne toothpaste and orajel (or ambesol...whichever) and don%26#039;t take aspirin, stick with something safe for the baby.
